Open hardware medium power RF amplifier with antenna switch
In order to enhance the output power of a SDR, I have designed the following RF medium power amplifier.
This particular design is tuned to 1.5GHz band, but you can easily use my
program for impedance matching
to recompute the values of inductors and capacitors for different frequency band, as long as within the limits of the
active components employed.
I have used HMC311ST89 as first stage amplifier, RF2126 as second stage, and HMC784MS8GE as an antenna switch.
The design is open hardware and available as
Kicad files. For convenience I provide
also
schematics in PDF.
A previous version with a discrete PIN diode switch is
here.
I have actually built a version without the antenna switch (which is optional), using just simple 0.8mm thick 1oz FR4 PCB
without impedance control in the manufacturing process (to save cost).
